The Hanalima story

Hi. I'm María.

I'm 26, I live in Córdoba and I'm the person behind everything you see here. The design, the making, the photos, the orders, the website, the accounts, the messages at 11 at night. All of it.

But before I tell you how it all works, let me tell you why it exists.

It started out of restlessness, not a calling.

I was always very visual, very creative, and very bad at settling for what was out there. I'd walk into shops and see the same thing over and over: same design, same mould, zero personality. Jewellery made not to bother anyone.

And all I wanted was one thing: earrings that said something. That spoke for themselves before I even opened my mouth.

Since I couldn't find them, I started making them.

First for me. Then my friends started asking for them. And in 2022, without quite planning it, that became Hanalima.

What does Hanalima mean?

It's a Hawaiian word. It means handmade. And it's pronounced "Hah-nah-lee-mah" (I mention it because it raises more questions than you'd think).

I chose it because it sums up exactly what this is: something that passes through my hands before it reaches yours.

What goes into every order.

Behind every piece you receive there's design, decisions, carefully chosen materials, hours of making, photos, a description, packaging, a label, the hand-off to the courier.

And behind all of that: me.

I don't have a team. I don't have a warehouse. I have a workspace, my own judgement and a very clear idea of what Hanalima should be and what it shouldn't.

Sometimes it's exhausting. I won't lie to you.

But every time someone writes to me saying "I put them on and I don't want to take them off" I know exactly why I keep going.

Why you're here.

If you've found your way to Hanalima, it's probably because you were looking for something you couldn't find anywhere else. Something with real personality. Something not everyone was wearing.

That's exactly what I try to make.

Thank you for being here.
